Tega is a tremendously biddable boy with a fabulous temperament. He passed his Temperament Test in 2006 with flying colours. His reaction to the “aggressive stranger” was perfect: he went out to the end of the leash, hit his stack and gave warning barks to the aggressive stranger, kept eye contact and didn’t back down when pressured. When the man playing the aggressive stranger took off his hat and cape and came over to meet him, Tega immediately reverted to the gentle friendly boy he is. I run Tega regularly in off-leash parks and have various rescue dogs through the house and he’s wonderful. He will stand his ground if challenged and will “educate” if necessary, but he’s never aggressive. He’s an honest, kind, and gentle dog who loves nothing better than to have a nice cuddle on the couch and share my pillow at night.

Tega started his obedience career in 2004, achieving his CD in 3/3 trials with scores of 195, 188.5, 197 and 198.5 (bonus leg). Tega achieved his CDX in 2005 and was the No. 1 Boxer in CKC Obedience with very limited trialing in spring, 2005. Tega finished his Utility Dog title and Obedience Trial Championship in 2006. Tega was also the No. 1 Boxer in CKC Obedience in 2006. Pending CKC confirmation, Tega will also be No. 1 Boxer in CKC Obedience in 2007 and he also holds a Top 10 Working Breed placement with results currently calculated to October/07. Tega currently has one leg towards his Obedience Trial Champion Excellent title and we continue our quest for the MOTCh.

Tega was the first boxer in Canada to achieve the exclusive Draft Dog Excellent title in September, 2005. The three judges were very impressed with Tega’s great power and workability in the test. Tega hauled a solid 60 pounds over rough terrain with two steep hills on the freight haul course in his DDX test. He’s a superb carting dog and a fantastic draft partner.

Tega has his CKC Novice agility title and will be returning to the agility arena to run in the Intermediate classes later in the year. Tega is also training in tracking.
