"The stars are not wanted now; put out every one.  Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun.  Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;  For nothing now can come to any good."    W.H. Auden.

Pinot died unexpectedly on June 27, 2009 from heart failure while chasing her favourite orange ball in the backyard.   A bright light has gone out in this world.

Pinot was a wonderful working dog with a solid temperament and that bit of an edge that made her a really fun dog to work with.   She was all “red headed” girl and Queen “B” of the house.   Pinot loved to work and refused to allow any slacking off in that area.   I even heard about it if we were late getting to class!  Once she was run and worked for the day,  she was very happy to snuggle up on the couch and have some cuddles.  If she was not worked,  she'd find a “project”.

Pinot was just over a year old when she passed her Temperament Test in 2006.  While young,  she was very solid in all parts of the test including the “aggressive stranger”.  She held her ground, maintained eye contact, and didn’t back down when pressured.

Pinot was owner handled to all of her conformation points.   While she was a drivey little working gal,  she didn’t really enjoy the conformation ring and refused to give any effort for anyone but me in the ring.   So,  despite my best efforts to the contrary,  I ended up spending more time in the conformation ring than I had ever wished or intended!  Pinot started and finished her conformation career with 5 point wins in 2006.  Her last 5 points were won out of a class of 14 bitches, including specials.

You can see pictures of Pinot working here.   As of June, 2009,  Pinot was working on polishing her open work and training in utility and I had hoped to put her into the Open ring in July.

In agility,  Pinot had 1 novice standard leg and 2 novice JWW legs in the US and 1 novice JWW leg in Canada.
